Through its mission group, Central Congregational reaches out to persons in need, helping individuals, families and organizations in our community. The congregation sets aside ten percent of each Sunday offering towards this end. As funds allow, we work to provide assistance to specific organizations as well as individuals and families in our community who are struggling to meet basic needs.
Central supports four area organizations that work to serve needs in our community; Knox Prairie Community Kitchen, Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center, Habitat for Humanity of Knox County and Christian Community for Helping Neighbors (CCHN). Our members also support the work of other organizations in our community through offerings of time, talent and treasure. These include such the Fish of Galesburg food pantry and the Knox County Day Camp Program, among others.
In addition, Central is pleased to host the Knox Prairie Community Kitchen (KPCK) dinners which bring together members of Galesburg’s diverse community to share a meal and fellowship. Members of our congregation are involved in hosting and serving these dinners.
